    Default Ring-billed Gull with fish

We've got a flock of Ring-billed Gulls at ETL! This image was taken on the same day as my last post. I think there is more detail in the whites, but the fish in the bill is not as visible, IMHO. Canon 1D Mark lll, Canon 400/2.8 lens, tripod mounted, Wimberley type 2 head, ISO 320, 1/1600, f6.3. In full sun.
I've cloned out a few water droplets, and done some minor photoshopping (shadow/highlights, unsharp mask 100, 1.0, 1) and tried numerous crops and wasn't too happy with any of them. Settled for this one. :)

The details are great. good exposure, especially for full sun (!); love the splashing water, and the wings up. I think the crop is just a bit tight on the bottom though. Nice image!

Hi Susan - agree with Anita's comments - also might need a little cw rotation. I would not have worried about cloning out any of the water drops - IMHO they are a plus!
Whites are in the upper 240's in places - a little detailless in a couple of spots.
    Good show :)

I like the exposure techs, just a little tight IMO - nice picture, I like it!

    Hi Susan,
I like the head angle and sharp eye, along with the raised wings...the water droplets are fine. The gull is tight in frame, would suggest adding more canvas to the right side...

Susan - Looks to me like you handled the harsh light well. Great wing position, and I love the water drops. Crop looks OK, but were it mine I might take just a fraction off the left, and add several fractions to the right.

Thank you for the comments, particularly relating to the crop. Nothing looked right to me, I will try your suggestions and appreciate them. :) Looks as if we need a Ring-billed Gull thread here..... :D
