Default B4 and After - Content Aware Scale

Sometimes no matter what I do, the image ends up where it should have gone in the first place, the cyberspace trash bin. But I did want to post it because I think that the Content Aware Scale feature worked as advertised.

I took several shots of this windmill and the ones of just windmill and fence came out okay. But I also wanted a shot of the house, the fence and the windmill with the water tank. I never could get a decent composition no matter where I stood, so I tried to make something of the snaps I took while looking for the right composition.

I thought if I removed the empty space between the house and the windmill, it might work as a portrait oriented shot and I had been wanting to try the Content Aware Scale feature in PS CS4, so I gave it a try. CAS worked okay after I created an alpha channel and protected the important features, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the composition to look right.

Patti, I love the way this turned out! Great use of content aware scale. Orton looks great. I love the way the sky came out. I might remove the one small spot on left side of frame. You could probably get rid of the water bin on right if you wanted to.:) Excellent presentation and pp work! I love it!!

Patti, I love it! It has a Norman Rockwell or Wyeth feel to me. I'd be proud to have produced it:)

    Denise and Cheryl,

Thanks for the kind words. I might work on it some more. I really don't care for the composition. I think the pole is too close to the horizon and it just isn't balanced. I do think it would help to remove the water tank and the blob on the left.

Patti, If you wanted you could remove the top part of the post -so it would look like the second wire down was the top of the post, just leave a bit over the height of the wire so it looks natural. Should be easy. I really like this and think it's worth the effort.:)

    Nice image and application, Patti.

Agree with Denise on the post. You also may want to put in the rest of the right border, in the area of the water tank to give an open area and move the windmill more into the image. But nice image and work on the adjustment of the area.

yet another feature in ps I've yet to use.. I really like how the red of the barn pops in the rework and all of the fine detail you were able to bring out. I'm a big fan of ortonized images and this has a glow/softness to it that I enjoy :)
