    Default Continuous High Speed

Hi, I am having a problem with my D300 when shooting Raw with Continuous High. I get about 2 to 3 frames a second, but if I am in Tiff or JPEG I get 6 or more. I tested it on the same subject with the same light. Is there a setting for Raw that I need to change?
    Thanks

are you using 14 bit raw that will only do 2.4fps 12 bit will do full speed.

    • With built-in battery: up to 6 fps
    • With AC adapter or MB-D10 pack and batteries other than EN-EL3e: up to 8 fps
    • 12-bit RAW at full speed, 14-bit RAW only 2.5 fps

Thank you, I was using 14 bits. I switchedc to 12 bits and it works great.
Do I loose anything usefull by changing?

no problem, the difference is that 14 bit are better for higher iso i believe,

Here is an article that goes into some of the difference in 14 bit vs. 12 bit. There is also a difference in continuous tones, like blue skies, that can show banding. I can't find the site that did the test, but there was a big difference in blue skies shot 14 bit vs. 12 bit. One of the issues is that a monitor won't show the difference but a histogram will show it when you're editing.
