    Default LJ Cormorant

shot from the usual place in La Jolla just after sun rays start to hit the cove in the morning (730am) during the thanksgiving weekend.

    D700 + Sigma 500mm f4.5 HSM 1/1250, f8, ISO 400

close to full frame; processed in LR (minor adjustments), sharpened and converted to jpg in PS.

Looking forward to your C & C. Thanks.

    Happy Holidays...

Good colors, sharpness and details ! Beautiful blue water ! The head-turn though, from what I've learned and understood, would be a bit better if it's more than as is.

    Thanks for sharing !

I like the light, sharpness, stretched wings and angle. A little bit more head turn would have been nice. If it were mine I would desaturate the water a few points and tone down the perch. Maybe a bit more room?

What does "LJ" stand for? ... I just figured it out, La Jolla, right? :)

    Happy Holidays!

LJ is La Jolla, CA. With birds facing away, the recommended best head angle is square to the imaging sensor. The perfect HA would have lit the eye; as is, it is hidden....

Love the wing stretch and d-o-f. Would like to see a slighltly less contrasty, slightly less saturated version. There may be a cyan cast to the blues...

Awesome wing position and sharpness. The blues look a bit overstaurated on my screen, it would have been nice if the cormorant turned his head more towards you so we could see the shiny blue eye! TFS
