    Default Into the Mist

Today I worked on this image that I had taken in the woods back behind our house. This is the exact same spot as in my image "Walk in the Woods," just from a slightly different angle.

I applied an orton effect and the Xero moonlight filter, and then added mist using this tutorial, http://photoshoptutorials.ws/photosh...all-pages.html. I then applied the orton effect a second time, converted to monochrome, and added a vignette.

I tried both B&W and sepia versions and I'm not sure which I like better, so I'm posting both. Let me know which you prefer. I'm also posting the original image so you can see what I started with.

Very nice, Christopher. I like the orton effect and the mood it has created. Nice soft feel to the image. I also like Dave's repost with the contrast. To me it is the tone that makes this stand out. Excellent contrasting images to compare!!

Christopher, Of the two you posted I prefer the sepia version. I guess the color toning seems more natural w/ trees.Very moody look to this. I also like Dave's more punched up look.

I really enjoyed seeing the difference between your work and the original. The treatment has added so much drama and totally changed the mood. Amazing transformation. I like the sepia the best and also like Dave's approach.

    Thanks everyone! Appreciate the comments.

Thanks for the repost, Dave. Personally I'd prefer a little less contrast than what you did, but it does look nice and it gives me some ideas.
