Technically perfect with a great head angle. Was it Santa or a plane?

Merry Christmas to you and your family
lovely image with nice head position and BG, Looks little soft near talons or its just to me
TFS
wonderful pose, background, and great eye focus. Does look soft on the lower feathers to me too but I'm assuming that is due to the light you had to work with.
Allen

Happy Holidays Doug, wish you a successful new year making lots of good photographs.

Hi Allen, And welcome. The lower feathers are softer than the face and eye because they are well beyond the plane of focus (the eye to be precise) and at f/4 there is nowhere near enough d-o-f to cover them. So the soft focus is due directly to the aperture not to the light. And most importantly, the image is sharp where it needs to be, on the eye. And it works very well for me.
