I met Grace Scalzo and husband Ted this morning at Morton NWR. We were joined by friend Lou. (sp?)
We had another great morning.
This image was created with the Canon 800mm f/5,6L IS lens, a 25mm extension tube, and the EOS-1D MIII. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2 stops: 1/160 sec. at f/11 set manually. Fill flash at -1 stop. 45-Point AAFPS AI Servo AF.
Rotate image plus small crop. This bird (see Pane #2 below) had about the filthiest bill I have ever seen.
The branch was covered with snow and placed on the ground near a feeder. Lots of bird liked hopping up on it.
Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I used a variety of strategies to perform the bill clean-up: these included the Clone Stamp Tool, Divide and Conquer, and a series of Quick Masks. All of these are detailed in Digital Basics. Click on the Digital Basics link here: https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/ca....aspx?catid=32
