    I agree with the positives noted by David, and would add that the bird is a bit tight in the frame. Some room all around would help. BG is also a little to blurred for my taste, as soon as I saw it I thought Gaussian Blur...

    Pose and details are fine! Nice job.

    The background blurring is a problem. I'm guessing that your procedure went like this:


    1. Duplicate background layer
    2. Apply Gaussian blue to the duplicate
    3. Put a mask on that layer and paint with black to restore the subject and perch.

    The problem is that this method creates halos from the subject, and these remain outside the masked area.



    This thread describes a method that won't produce these halos.
