    Default Sandhill Crane Closeup

I wish the bg was better, but being in a vehicle I couldn't move much without spooking them. I did clone a crane out on the lower left.

Hi David, The head angle looks good to me and the head appears nice and sharp. May I suggest a small increase in contrast as I think this would help a bit. I agree with you on the background.

Hi David. The light angle gives a nice sense of texture to the bird. I might sharpen the eye a little. The BG is fairly distracting; it'd be easy to remove the gray triangle.

Thanks Phil and Doug. After looking at this longer, I might try cropping it to a square, bringing the bottom of the frame up the gray area of the oof cranes. This makes the bg less distracting.
