    Hello, this mallard was shot at a local sanctuary. All C and C welcome.

    50D, ISO 500, f/7.1, 300mm on a 100-400. 1/1250.

    Nicely done Gary. Good eye contact and like the choice of ss to give some blur. Some halos on the tail but to be expected with that dark against light part.

    Gary:

    Nice BIF capture. The snow helped with your fill light, like the muted details in background.

    I might try to bring up the green in the head just a bit with a quick mask and curves adjustment.

    This is what I had in mind. There was a small sharpening halo on the original around the head, and it still shows here.

    The feet are great by the way.

    I really like the pose and the head to feet sharpness. I know it is impossible to get wingtip to wingtip sharpness but I would like to see leading wing, particularly the proximal wing, in better focus. At 1/1250, I don't think it motion blur, most likely DOF. Happy holidays.
