    Default American Crow

I was photographing in the Ozark Scenic Riverways National Park (about an 1.5 hours from my home) this morning but it was pretty slow. I captured this image of a crow which on the surface seems very boring but I have spent years trying to get close to one of these critters! They are wiley as a coyote here in Missouri. Image was taken along the riparian corridor of the Current River. Perch is a bit of a monstrosity but I like it!!!!

Canon 40D; Canon 500/4; 1/320; f/5.6; ISO 400; Standard Gitzo/Wimb Set-Up; Converted in DPP; Note: This is a significant crop - 50% but the ole 40D held up pretty well, I think.

I agree with you on the perch, but I like the bark peeling off. Perfect exposure, HA, and BG. Might sharpen the head a tad more. The two twigs shooting up from the bottom bug me a tad, but they might be hard to lose. I know what you mean about crows, they might be common, but they aren't that easy to photograph!

    Well Done!

I'm talking about the peeling nature of the bark -- it adds interest IMHO despite being a monstrosity!

Beautiful Danny, I like the peeling tree bark it offsets the effects of perch being a bit large. Would just clone out the lower twigs, nicely done and crows are not easy to photograph at all.

Danny, I like the curved line of the perch and the details on your crow are fantastic.

Great exposure Danny, the perch is a tad over powering but works.
    Happy Holidays!
