    This image was captured at the St. Louis Zoo yesterday. It was raining, cold, and windy. I didn't get the angle I was hoping for and it really began to rain hard so I left before getting any better images of this duck.

    EOS 40D with 100-400L at 400mm
    1/250 sec at f/5.6 ISO400
    550ex flash

    Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

    At first glance I thought it might need a CW rotation but the more I look at it square on, I don't think so. Nice head on shot....good exposure and nice detail. The droplets of water add to the image. I'd like more attractive water/BG but you did as good as you could with the lighting. A little more DOF to get all the bill in focus would have been nice but again...given the light you were probably pushing the limits.

    Jay, the head on look is not often seen . . I wish the bill were more in focus but tough to do.

    I agree, the head on look would be striking with the wood duck if given better DOF and better light. I'll be going back to this spot when more time and better weather to see if I can get it right....
