A shot taken last week as I like the pose captured Harriers like to perch in high brush or on the ground hidden among the brush they have a facial disk much like an owl.:)

    James:

Interesting pose, looks like he wonders what you are looking at.

Well exposed, sharp, effective DOF. Nice that you were able to get a clear shot above the foliage.

How do you compare the D300S to the D300?

Really cool pose James and the sharp eye makes this image for me.

    Background is excellent.

I'm wondering if toning the foreground down a bit might solidify the attention all going to the subject right off the bat?

Great shot, Jim. Definitely something a little different here in the harrier world. I like the foreground vegetation and the bokeh is nice as well. You captured an intimate moment of a predator with this image.

I love these kind of behavioral shots. Great detail, sharp, and good eye contact. The bg is very nice and you controlled the whites very well. I think adding a dark vignette would help deal with the brightness.

Very nice behavioral shot Jim, it's often hard to get a good shot when harriers as perched since they perch low and all sorts of twigs are in the way!!! good job, keep them coming.

Nice posture, like the eye contact. The whites seem a bit hot ?
