Trying to clean up some old files and stay warm at the same time. Looking at images from the summer always helps. Came upon this one of a juvi skimmer learning to skim. These birds practice skimming by running along the shore line and sticking their bills in the sand. Then they move on to flying and skimming. Always interesting to watch , especialy when its 90 degrees out.

I like the light and skimming practice, this really is fun to watch. Do you have one in this series with the bird angled toward you?

Once I saw young bird walking slowly on the beach with its lower mandible plowing through the sand.

This was the best angle I could get without going into the surf , which would have been a BAD idea!!!! Salt water and photo equipment don't do well together.

Sweet image, Joe. I wouldn't mind seeing more of the wave in the bg if you have it.

    Joe:

Interesting behavioral image and story. At first I thought he was on ice, which made no sense for that species.

Tech. issues mentioned, but enjoyed it.
