Theme: Walk away!
I made this image back in 2005 using Canon 300D and EF 75-300mm... as I was panning with this lone avocet, a driftwood came into the frame. Later I realized it looked almost like a croc with jaws open. Here is the version after applying Topaz simplify in a separate layer. Then applying a layer mask and painting over the avocet to open it up, followed by denoise and detail. Added a bit of lens vignette. Hope you like it...

Indranil, What I like best about this image is the light - it appears golden and soft. The composition works even though the avocet is walking out of the frame. The driftwood balances it very nicely.
Indranil, Very nice color palette. I like the balanced comp. The reflections are fantastic! Nice treatment.

I love the design of this image but would like to see a lighter but less contrasty and slightly less saturated version.

Hi Artie, thanks a lot for looking and your sugesstion. Here is a repost; I used adjustment layers for levels to increase the RGB by another 40pts and reduce saturation by 7pts...
Way to go Indranil. I much prefer the softer look of the repost. I am thinking now that it needs a good deal of CW rotation.... Whaddya think?

Hi Artie, I actually started with a ccw rotation on the original to straighten based on the trailing line behind the avocet. I agree with you and do think it is better to do the other way now that i tried cw rotation from the last repost. First i used the ruler to straighten the base of the drift wood. Then went a bit further which seemed visually more appealing with two imaginary lines intersecting somewhere outside the frame. Is this what you had in mind? Best Regards

Thanks for the effort Indranil. It looks much better. But now you are gonna want to shoot me. When I checked the base of the driftwood by scrolling to the edge of my screen it seems that it is not quite square to the world....

Hi Artie, thanks again for walking this through. Appreciate it a lot. I found my mistake... I should have used the ruler tool with grid on rather than just relying on visual alignment. I fixed it in the master.
YAW. I just used the Ruler tool and connected two spots on the log.... And then Image/Rotate/Arbitrary. (I have a short cut for that one....)
