    Default Brown Pelican #3

This is the third in the series of the pelicans I have posted here. After three days of trial, I finally got one that was just about to enter the water. I could have gone lower but then I do not have the top view of wing span. Settings were -

    40D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm hand held
1/1250 sec, f/8 Mode: Av Exp comp: -2/3 ISO: 400

Workflow included adjusting level, curves, saturation, selective colors and removing color cast followed by selective sharpening. I would like to get your feedback on the composition and if anything else could have been done better.

    Its well captured Indranil,
I like the diving pose, caught just in the nick of time before the big splash...you have good color rendition and sharp feather details...I like the blue hue of the water...

I like your choice of including the top wing span, the sharpness and feather details, the composition looks good to me too. I really like how the tip of the beak is just touching the water surface and the water reflection on the beak. I just wish the eye is more visible but not sure if that is possible with diving pose.

Like this a lot - Big congrats - whilst the eye is only just visible the strong shapes and pose make up for it - IMHO.
Id be tempted to crop some of the negative space from the bottom, my eye tends to wander down there - doing so would bring the focus back to the main subject.

    Thanks for all the feedback...

    K. Thanaboon, I too wished a better eye contact. I do have a few but with more water splash and not much of the wing span...

Lance, here is a repost with slightly different crop... how does this look now?

Very nice capture. I like the unusual composition and pose. As well, the shot is well taken and processed. Good work Indranil.

Very unusual pose which works better in the repost. Congrats on seeing and capturing something out of the ordinary.
