As they say "don't rock the boat". At 1/8000 used to underexpose this flight shot and maintain sharpness while handholding in the boat worked great. I'm just not a tripod kinda guy. I like the blues I got in ACR and was able to hold the highlights on the fish.

Bill, This does have a twilight look to it. I like the highlight on the fish. Maybe a slice off the top. Well done, looking forward to the sequel!!:)

I was just thinking what Denise suggested to take some off the top. I wish we could do every flight at 1/8000 :D

Agree about the fins and tail on the fish - looks great! I like the overall blue look too.

Bill, there's two small areas near the top of the back part of the wing that bother me - I think a bit of cloning in that area and a bit of a touch up on the darkest part of the back wing would do it. I love the blues in this and the highlights on the fish are really wonderful. A beautiful catch for both you and the heron!

Nice composition. I like the blue cool twilight color. Another vote for taking a bit off the top.

What are you guys looking for? About a 50/50 split between the BG and water line?

Bill, I would go for a more pano look. Maybe about 1/2 the dark blue on top if you are looking at the right side. Keeping the horizon out of the middle.

This is the math I faced with this composistion. While the pano is more pleasing, the resultant image size requires a larger printer and custom framing than I have. The reworked image is 12x25. The only other answer is to add a substantial amount of canvas which will shrink the subject at 12x18. I might give it a try. Oh well, I tried, I guess you just can't stuff 12x25 into a 12x18 space. I will have to enlist my friend with a roller printer or move it down to a 9x19. $$$$$$$$ That new Epson 17x22 3880 is looking better and better.
