The weavers are very busy with nest building & at the same time trying to attract the attention of females. This one was caught in the act. Taken at Mankwe hide in the Pilanesberg National Park.
Because the bird is looking towards us, I think you could crop in a bit from the right, as the negative space there doesn't add too much, IMHO. I might try about 1/3 of the free space cropped off.
I also think a vertical would work here as well. If you have a bit more perch, might be worth a try.
Hi Gerrie, I like your image very much. The pose is lovely. Great head angle and wing position. Details are nice. I also like the simple background with complimentary colors. On my monitor it appears that the yellows are a little bright. I took your image into photoshop and the color histograms showed that the red and blue channels hare a little clipped. I tried several different processes to adjust the yellows of the bird. The one that looked best to me was using a average blur layer with the mode set to color (adjusted the opacity till clipping was reduce; 15%). I masked this layer so that the effect only shows on the bird as I like the background of your post. This is a subtle edit and hopefully I didn't reduce the color too much. Whether this adjustment helps or not is up to you. Again, your post is very nice and I would be proud to have it my collection. Thanks for sharing.
Super light pose and BG. Only wish for a tad more space at the bottom.
Phil you did a great job on the repost and you do manage to bring out a bit more detail from the yellow.
