Adams- My guess would be an out-of-range Rufous Hummer, maybe a female? The tail colour and pattern eliminate other species except Allen's (could it be an Allen's?).
My friend and expert birder Dick Veit (of Birds of Massachusetts fame) tells me that western hummers are becoming more and more common in eastern North America these days.
Please post additional photos if you have them. I'm a hummingbird bander and am fairly confident this is a hatch-year female Rufous but would like to see some more angles.
