Default Pied-billed Grebe "With One Large Sculpin"

Well through the years I have seen birds swallowing some pretty big fish as this probably was my most interesting
one to witness as this Pied-billed Grebe was being chased by a Snowy Egret and was protecting its catch.:)

Wow! This is a fantastic image.
I am impressed that you managed to track the action at 1000mm on a crop body,
especially when shooting at a low angle.

    Hi James,

Well for a catch it's an excellent one for the grebe and the photographer! I would have cropped a tiny bit at the top, just to remove the tan dark line! Great job!!

Jim - I think this is the most awesome photo you've posted yet on BPN. Definitely belongs in Smithsonian's "Nature's Best Images" my friend. I can't quit looking at it. I can see every detail on that sculpin, which looks huge, by the way. We don't grow them that big in Missouri!

Cool posture, excellent sharpness on the head, brilliant catch and HA. I would crop off the tiny OOF BG band at the top of the fram or clone it out. Otherwise pretty much perfect!

Amazing! Love the pose (both the bird and the fish), the sharpness, the details and the action. The low angle with water splashing behind is nice too. Agree about cropping a little from the top.

Excellent catch( pun intended) !!. I've seen a few images of these guys eating huge crawfish....but this one takes the cake. Among other things, I liked the side light.

Jim beautiful action image here. I'd be pleased just to capture the bird in a resting pose this sharp.
