Default Harlequin Sticking Its Tongue Out

Before everyone feels 'sandpipered out' I thought I would post this harlequin, which I photographed at Barnegat Light earlier this year. The sun was high up but there were thin clouds partially covering it. I find the shape of the tongue quite unusual.

Perfect exposure on a bird that's tough to expose properly. Nice detail. Love the tongue. Perhaps a sliver of additional canvas on the right.

Hi Axel. Super photo from super moderator! Great detail and, of course, interesting tongue. I am getting no pattern within the facial white area.

    Alex -

Very well done and we probably won't see many duck touques in images. :o

A bit more canvas to the right might be good.

The low angle on this shot makes it really outstanding, and the tongue just puts it over the top. The only thing I might try is a tad off the bottom and a bit more canvas on the right, if you have it. The exposure here is awesome. TFS>

Hey Axel - My favorite of all of the recent Harlequin posts. The details, color and texture are just beautiful. A fine image, my friend.

Axel....just like Danny, this is my favourite too. I am a big fan of bird portraits and this one is as good as it can get. Loved the details in the dark feathers and the eye. Really good job of exposing it. Can't get tired of this duck.

Love the framing and the tongue sticking out. So there are so many ways to shoot a duck eh?
