I added a lighting effect and some texture in the green channel. I liked the way this came out.

Very successful, Denise. I love the colours and depth in the image.

Denise, I love this. It looks like stained glass and is very three dimensional. I like the vertical crop so that
you can feel the majesty of the trees but I also think I'd like it cropped about 1/8 off of the top, cutting off
the lighter part of the image. When I scroll down, taking off the top and starting with the darker branches
as a canopy, it gives me the feeling of a sanctuary. Either way its beautiful:)

a strong/well taken comp. to begin with Denise. The effects almost remind me of a 'buzz filter', which lends a wonderful painterly quality to the leaves. I too can see a small crop here off the top to eliminate some of the lighter foilage, but I really like the vert. lines here. A beautiful scene :)
Tony, Cheryl and Cindy, Thankyou all for your comments. Much appreciated.
I did consider a crop from the top-but I wanted to accentuate the height of the trees and I liked the look of the sun peeking in. But I see the point made about the crop and agree it could go either way.:)
Cindy, Really nice to have you here. Your creative style will be loved by all!:D
Denise, Beautiful image and treatment. I love the way you have accentuated the leaves with the texture and the lighting is just right. Really makes me want to visit Muir's Woods again.
Thanks Patti. I appreciate it.:)
I love this one. The soft colors are mega and I love the colors and the texture of the tree trunks. And I like the idea of a bit off the top.
Do you have any more room in the orig on our left? It would be great if you had the tree on our left that same width as the tree on the right frame edge. The framing-symmetry would be improved.
My very favorite part of the image are the grouping of framed, mid-distance trees right center.

Artie, Thankyou for taking the time to comment. I don't have anymore room on either side. The reason I didn't take any off the top and still feel that way is to me it would change the entire image. It would then be a canopy image and shadowing would be the highlight instead of the sun peeking thru. The way the light was coming through the tree tops and illuminating the back trees was my fav. part also.
YAW. I fully understand your point. Sometimes I make two or more versions of a single image. But this one is pretty powerful as is. How do you add a "lighting effect"?

I used the lighting filter in Photoshop and went thru the channels to add the texture.
Thanks. It is amazing how much is in Photoshop that folks especially me know nothing about....
