    Hi, Your absolutely correct.This is a Sanderling in winter (basic) plumage. Just wondering,what made you doubt that?

    Dave, I'm not good at shorebirds.:( I was looking and found a shot of a semipalmated that looked very similar so of course that made me feel like I may be wrong in my identification.

    Hi Roy

    Location alone would exclude Semip, as they winter in Central & South America. I'm not sure it has ever been recorded in Hawaii.
