I was getting ready to leave Bosque when we happened upon this encounter along the loop road. Wish it was cleaner but now this gives you a good idea of why all the snowgeese blast off (although breakfast in this case is a Sandhill Crane).....still a treat to see!
Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800mm lens at 572mm for 1/640 sec. at f11 and ISO 800. I had bodies to my left and right.....so couldn't aim a bit more right....slight crop from behind and bottom.

Cool! Graphic, but it is real life. Just a tad tight for my taste, but excellent none the less.

Great find Roman !! Agree on being a little tight but also might have zoomed all the way for a super tight shot !! Great action !! ... great seeing the teeth and eye contact !!!

I've seen plenty of coyotes around the crane pools before, but I've never seen one eating a crane. Good find and nicely captured.

Bodies to your left and right??

Nice moment. A little bit tight, but I would take it any day over the normal coyote looking left and right shots. I agree with Alfred that zooming in for a tight portrait would have been great, especially since you had the arsenal at your disposal. The use of f11 has been helped. Thanks for sharing.

All I can complain about is the tightness, beautiful eye!

Love the bared teeth and look that this Coyote presented to you.

Love the look he is giving you! Like how the red adds a splash of color as well.

Judging by his condition, I suspect that's not the first bird he's caught this year. I like the eye contact, habitat, and color that the bird adds to the picture.

intense one Roman! I agree that zooming in even more might have been even more striking.
