Not being a large fan of winter, I am looking forward to getting some nice shots without all the leaves on the trees. This was taken this morning at a local sanctuary. Appeared to be bedding down for the winter. Have a great Saturday.

    50D, ISO 640, 1/1250, F/5.6 400mm on a EF 100-400.

    try this again.

I like the winter mood and exposure and am wondering what it would like like if the bird were a bit lower in the frame.

    Gary:

Nice exposure, as the whites actually look white, not the muddy grey often seen in snow pictures.

I agree with Axel, but would probably go further and crop it horizontal, adding to the sides as needed for a nice look.

    Happy holidays!

Definitely captures the cold isolated feeling, Gary. Image looks a bit flat and with a bluish cast - that may be the effect and mood you were after. I tried a neutralised version with a set black point in levels and dodged some of the surrounds as well as trying Axels' crop suggestion. Not sure how this gels with how it seemed on the day.

For such a simple image this one says a lot.

Thank you for the repost, that looks perfect. Only been shooting strong since March of this year and still learning
the photoshop techniques. I did not notice the blue cast until seeing the repost, here in Michigan a blue cast in the
middle of winter is rare. Thanks again for looking and the suggestions. very cool.:D
