would like to get some thoughts on this shot of a northern harrier, i clipped the tail i know --he was moving at a pretty good clip? i am fairly new to bird photography and am enjoying myself but i don't seem to be getting quite the results i thought i would. cannon 40 D 100-400 cannon 1/800sec. f9 iso 400
Big Welcome !!!! Not bad being able to track this fine bird Finding males is even more unusual
You are very close here and just needs a little more in the sharpness dept Would try going wide open and increasing the ISO Getting to 1600 will give you a better chance Do post the exp method and compensation Will give us a understanding of what you were doing
I like that you clipped some from the back because it shows you were panning fast Excellent wing position in the full down stroke and fine head position Will be getting excellent results in no time Do pan smoothly with the bird and continue panning as you release the shutter Looking forward to more !!!...... This is not bad at all I like it !!!
If you can please send me your full name in a PM We are trying to update all members to full names or at least or last and two initials !!!
tv 1/800, av f9, partial metering comp-0 iso400 shot in raw, white balance-cloudy al focus style-std was shooting in avshot at f 9 to try to have enough depth of field to be in good focus. there is a field near me that was a lot of fun-saw 2 redtails that were too far away-then played tag with a kestral but didn't get anything good then drove to the other side of the field and this guy came out of no where jumped out of the car and let her rip- most of the shots were after she passed actually i think this was the 1st in the series-wasn't even sure what she was at first as i had never seen 1 of these before!post in digital image pro was to brighten about 1 stop and i think the raw sharpness went from 3 to 5 croped 50% in photoshop used sel. color to bring out the yellow and browns a touch and saved for web
