It seems a bit undeexposed in my monitor and the blacks needs to be opened a bit. I have never seen this species but reds looks a bit saturated in my opinion. The bug in front of the bird is a nice bonus.
I tried to fix the image in PS but couldn´t get a good result because of the file quality. Try to make a new RAW conversion with levels adjustment and try to desaturate the blues and cyans in the BG. It needs a round of noise reduction to minimize the noise (mostly chroma noise).
    Hope this helps

Cool bird and pose. I agree that it looks underexposed, it would be easier to fix this in your RAW file. Dialing in some positive EC in the field would have helped. Keep them coming!

Shrikant, Welcome. A striking action image but as noted above it is mega-noise with poor image quality. Was this a large crop?

Love the wasp and the killer pose.

Mr. Arthur Morris, I was photographing some Chestnut Tailed Minlas that were below eye level inside some bushes with ISO 800, and -67% Exposure Comp, light was very poor and suddenly this Short Billed Minivet appeared on top of a tree, did not have the time to adjust the settings.
Yes the image is cropped to about 45 to 50% of the original frame.

Thanks Shrikant, Thanks for the explanation. That would explain the gross underexposure. I am curious, why were you at -2/3 stop when photographing birds at eye level?

Please post the original capture. Thanks.

VWD under the circumstance !! While this image could have been a much better image , I like this for the simple fact that this is a species which is hardly caught well here in India. Guess you have one of the best shots of this species . Photographically speaking , I would have used higher ISO , than underexposure to nail the shot .
