Not sure if this a good image or not but it was the action I wanted to catch .The recovery and histogram did not show any whites being blown out .Would have liked a little more foreground but wings are high so was hard to crop any other way. Would appreciate comments and critiques on this one please .usual PP and Gaussian blur on water

Excellent image! Timing, sharpness, composition, wing position all top notch. It is a bit underexposed, but I think you have plenty of leeway toward increasing exposure without blowing the whites. Good job. regards~Bill

I like the sense of fast action, and the yellow slipper!
High left wing very dramatic. Blurry backgroung nice. I need to learn about Gaussian blur, clueless at present.
I wonder if you could whiten the whites more?

Agree with Bill that the image can be opened up significantly without blowing any important highlights. Tried a version with a levels adjustment (highlight and midpoint) masked only to the bird to keep the nice dark BG. The water splashes are a big part of this image and some detail has been lost in blurring some of the flying droplets - I would mask the Gaussian blur from the plane of focus.

I like the action you captured here Suzanne. The foot causing the wave is excellent! I like the brightness of Tonys repost.
