    Default My First Red Tail

This bird lives in my neighborhood, but I have never been able to catch it in a good spot or good light until this morning. It was down on the road and then flew up onto a dead snag in a little wetland. A very shy bird, it only stayed a few seconds before flying off.

    Hi Bonnie,

You did well with the composition. The perch does not bother me at all. I do find the Hawk a Little soft. Keep them coming.

A beautiful bird and setting, good for you in catching him and making the image. Agree a little soft. A pretty image though, hope he stays around the neighborhood for you!!

Maxis and George, thanks for your comments!
I am not too happy that this image is soft--I have tried many ways to sharpen it--to no avail. It is a high ISO image--so it is a bit noisy--but it should be sharper, I was not that far away. Maybe--because of the 2X and wide open? or the MKIII itself

I am guessing but it "could" be in part from the smearing they use to kill some of the noise at high ISO. That and the x2 which is magnifying things probably all added up.

Beautiful pose and the perch is fine Bonnie, a tad soft but still a lovey shot!
