Well back at it working the wintering ducks I was happy with the subtle hint of habitat in the bg
for which I think helps compliment the Pintail.:)

Beautiful image Jim, and I agree with you about the subtle hint of habitat...very nice touch. I would only remove the highlights on the blue of the bill.

Excellent capture. I love the colors of the water and background matching the color of the pintail.
The image has a lot of detail and the whites look well exposed.
My only suggestion would be to crop a little the top and left to fill the image with more with the bird.

Hi James, I also like the subtle hint of habitat and the color it introduces to the image. The bird is lovely with nice details and again I agree that you handle the white well. I would like to suggest an alternative crop/composition. I like the background at the top enough that if you have it I would include a bit more of the background at the top and take a little off the bottom as it doesn't add as much to the image. Not better just different as I like it as presented. Well done and thanks for sharing.

A gorgeous image. The BG does indeed compliment the bird -- it looks like a lovely watercolor. I like the crop as presented. If I were to touch anything other than the few spots on the bill, it would be to take just a tad off the bottom, but it's wonderful just as it is.

Very painterly image, with nice composition and EXP control. I may mask the sharpening off the face to avoid the shinny areas where the feathers are wet. And as Daniel suggests, great idea to get rid of the highlights too.

Jim, You know that I am a big fan of yours and this image is an example of why. Such a pleasing composition, almost painterly and very artistic.

Lovely image as usual Jim. However, it looks flat and a bit washed out on my monitor.
Please let me know whether this repost is an improvement.
    Cheers my friend,
