I have traveled quite a bit with the Mongoose and flash arm. However, I am having a terrible time getting the flash arm to hold the Canon flash cord very tight. It tends to get lose and comes off quite a bit. The cork on the top of the arm has kind of torn and has to be repositioned a great deal of the time.
Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone else come up with a solution? I am beginning to think another method of holding the flash maybe the right answer. The arm is great because it is light and easy to connect but it has really become a pain to keep the flash cord connected to it.
First - take a very close look at the Canon flash cord to make sure it's not starting to break. While I haven't had a Canon cord, it is my understanding they are subject to fail in that area. I use the flash cord that Artie sells on his site.
If your cord is in good shape, I would suggest going to Office Depot for a sheet of cork and replacing it on your Mongoose bracket. E6000 industrial rubber cement will hold the cork very well. You may be able to just repair your existing cork with the E6000 - it is an amazing product.
