Bullfinches are one of my favorites, can't beat the red/black color combination.
Very nice shot of the bird with good HA. The placement in the frame I think could be done
in a better way. More space on the bottom and less top and right would make this a great one.

Wonderful looking bird Magnus, I agree that a bit more room under the bird and a tighter crop would improve this image.

Hi Magnus - I've never seen this guy but the color is beyond description for me. I'd go tighter to make it even better.

More room on bottom and less on top would make this one better IMHO. Exposure looks great and the snow gives this image a dreamy feel. BTW, that is an awesome bird.

Thank you all for the comments! The image are full frame so more room at the bottom is not possible! Please feel free to crop my image to your suggestion an republish it!

Beautiful bird, good sharpness and head angle, the BG looks good, too. I would put the bird a bit higher in the frame.

The repost looks really good. If you have, I might even add a bit more canvas at the bottom, but not much.

Sorry Axel! I have no more space at the bottom! The first post was full frame!

Since it is a clean area, it would be relatively easy to extend the canvas if that is something you do. Here is what I had in mind, I had to remove the frame to make it work.

Aha...ok! I like your repost Axel! I am not use to extend canvas on my images :) I am very restricted in the Swedish photo forums! They are against all manipulation! I think i have to think out of the box somtimes! :)

    Thank you for the help!

Ideally, you could have pointed the lens a bit further down while photographing the bird, but adding canvas would be my second best solution. :)

Magnus the last repost works perfect for me. I totally agree with Axel´s suggestions. I like the original post a lot, with a lot of empty room at the right (and with more room at the bottom) but I think that it doesn´t works because it needs something to balance that empty space. In a perfect world, a small berry in the upper right corner, a tiny grass in the the right of the frame, or perhaps a snowflake in the upper right corner and the original composition would work perfect.

I think that your shooting style is not to get frame filling birds but that you prefer images with a more elaborate composition and with elements of the habitat in the image. I like your shooting style a lot and I think that you are doing a good job. Keep them coming :)

You have a good point about the angle of the lens! I am going to try it next time:)

You got it right! My style is what you described! The birds in the middle of Sweden are very hard to get close to! That is one of the biggiest reasons that we have much habitat in the pictures i think! But over all i think Scandinavians like more habitat and the bird small in the frame! I am going to post a link to one of my favourites in Sweden! Take your time and look through his images!

Magnus, thanks for the link. I discovered that site in one of your previous posts and I visit the web from time to time. I really enjoy that kind of shooting style :)
