I don't think the whites come any whiter than this! Beautiful birds to be sure! A lower angle was neither possible nor desirable; the birds were in a narrow channel with steep banks.

These are really beautiful birds. I like the sharpness, eye contact, raised tail and the whites look good, too. The dark plumage on the back looks a bit noisy on my monitor.

Simply beautiful bird. Great job rendering the whites in this one. Love the careful composition and water waves, how big of a crop?

Beautiful color and detail Impressive you did this hand held I am really impressed the whites are not clipped and yet the areas of iridescent are also bright. I have tried repeatedly to photographed these and am unable to find that balance point. What is the key?

Good light (fairly early in the morning) and a little luck! Water that's not too dark helps too (assuming you're using a priority mode). Go for 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop of blinkies and pull the whites back down in RAW processing.

My favorite duck, you did an excellent job in exposing the image, all the colors are there. For me I think it's extreme hard to get the blue and green to pop without burning the white. I like it very much.

    Nate,
