    Default Ring-billed gull portrait

Taking some inspiration from the recently posted gorgeous gull portraits( thx Axel, Denise, Juan, Krjin), I paid a visit to the ring-billed gull flock close to my place. Among all the different poses, I liked this 'looking down' one the most. All opinions welcome.

    40D. 400 f/5.6 and 1.4x. iso 400. f/9. 1/800. hand-held.

I like it, the angle makes this little bird look quite majestic. :) Good exposure control, sharpness and eye contact, the composition works for me, too. I might desaturate the sky a few points but that is just a matter of taste.

Nice sharpness and head angle. Whites look good. Another vote for a slightly desaturated sky.

Thx guys. The north sky is quite nice these days. But I agree it can use a little desat. I use a customized variant of 'faithful' picture style with sat set to 3. I will reduce that or go to 'neutral' picture style and play a bit. Thx for the suggestion.

Beautiful gull. Love the pose and expression given through the eye. I like the sky as is but would be fine to see a desat. version. Congrats.

Harshad, I'll post one with the traditional portrait pose with a little desaturated BG. Thx.
