Early this morning I watched this guy fish for a long time. He was good at it, too, but I never got one image of him and his catch that was presentable. He surely knew I was watching -- and, as you see, he was watching me. The light was such that I don't think I blew out the whites even with this camera setting. No crop, but selective NR on the background and sharpening on the bird, as well as brightening the eyes, all in PS Elements. Appreciate criticism . . .

Hi Wendell - exposure looks pretty good - appears to be a bit of a sharpening halo around the head area.
Might crop some from the top to give it a bit more of a pano feel.
    Like the eye contact.
    Good show :)

I like the sharpness, the colors. Even the light feathers look nice. Do agree that there's a halo though.

    Hi Wendell,
A very nice image and capture. I like the sharp feather details and color rendition on your little guy. You have direct eye contact and a nice reflection. Agree with Mr. Peters on slicing just a tad on top...looking forward to your next one...

Hi Wendell Great suggestions !! Got one more, select the pupil and darken, will appear even sharper, all of these look the same !! Can also try lightening the reflection just a bit so there is not so much difference !! Neat bird and excellent capture !!!

Hi Alfred: I see what you mean about the reflection. Is that a general "rule", to make reflections a bit lighter than the subjects?

Love those orange eyes and the water drops on its back!
