Whether common or not, feral or not, apparently filthy dirty or not, I do very much love this species as it's the first from my memories back from childhood. A not so exciting work Xmas party last weekend meant me goofing off to a park near Luna Park in Sydney and spent some time in horrible light shooting some birds. this is one I liked.

    30D, 300/1.4x, ISO400, f/8, 1/1000th, +1/3, FF, about 2m from subject.

Head angle, sharpness and BG look good, I particularly like the eye. I would tone down the highlights on top of the beak.

This guy/gal is really in your face...and odd looking. I do love it's eye. Love the BG and nice HA. Does he have one of those do-hickey's on the other side of his face too? Do you know what that is?

Very good portrait of this pigeon. I agree with you about this birds been common but at the same time attractive. It's good they are used to people so they are an easy bird to photograph. Love the clearness of the eye and BG.

    Thanks for looking.
Marina, I am not sure what that growth is, but I remember seeing it on many specimens and it is on both sides. :)
