Thinking this one may be a case of love it or hate it - not your normal type shot.
Wanted a little bit of drama, some mystery and a ton of feel - dont know if I achieved any of it, but sure had fun.

This little guy was busy collecting grass stems for his nest that he was building about 30m away, harsh light so thought I would try something a little different

    Shot into the sun
    D3
    Nikon 500mm F4 with 1.7 x Converter
    F6.7
    1/1500TH
    -2.3 EV
    Matrix Metering
    SB900 With better beamer
    Manual flash @ 1/1
    Handheld

PP - Cropped and slight shadow adjustment otherwise SOC.
Looks a little soft onscreen - original is SHARP.

Comments welcome - Dont be shy.
Love it or hate it??? and Why!!

Yes the lighting is kinda unusual -Pays to experiment sometimes when you really have nothing to loose, this was harsh just after midday sun, what was I going to do?? Action was too good to just pass up on - made the most of the opportunity have a whole series of this guy going about his collecting - unfortunately although he finished building the nest - 2 days later it was destroyed by some predator.

    Hey Mr. Peters,
Excellent use of manual flash...I like the pose. You have very nice feather details and the color rendition is spectacular. The dark background showcases your little friend very well. Its a shame he was short lived. :(

Great details and color balance lance. Would have never figured out that you achieved this by using flash.
    congrats
