    Default Exhibitionist!

    Hi,

    EOS-1D Mark II N + EF400mm f/5.6L USM.

Hey Guy - Totally cool shot. I like your comp choice and the backgound is purplish butter. The eyes, as always on these sublime creatures, are awesome and those claws are soooo huge. I even like the post/perch as it fits the comp selection well. There is something a little strange along the right side of the post as you are facing the monitor. Maybe just part of the owl. Love it!

    Thanks Danny,

It is a few tail feathers.
Here's a crop where you can see more (not the same image).

Nice one Guy! I love the pose, and the lighting is beautiful. I'm guessing it was sunning? Did it hold this pose for a while? Thanks for the explanation image showing the tail feathers too...

Beautiful shot, Guy. Those eyes are amazing -- it's almost like they see through you or something. And I agree with Danny on the perch.

Was this a chance encounter or did you bait?

    Hi Daniel,

Yes, a sunny and warm day (35F).
By my EXIF data, and he remained with open beak for 10 minutes, this is one of the few photos where the beak is closed.
It was rather a refresh session.

What an unusual pose for a snowy, almost looks like a seated dog! Excellent definition and perfect EXP. TFS

Guy, a beautiful image. One question, and I ask for my own edification. I have heard that drooped wings on a bird signal distress/exhaustion. When you add in the open beak, I am wondering what were your observations?
