This is another image from my trip to the Okavango Delta in October this year. This time I opted for a wider approach, to show the habitat around the bird.

This crop works really well. I like the inclusion of the vegetation, sharpness, colors and eye contact.

    Hi Chris,
I do like the composition, colors and light angle, you also got great detais on the feathers.

Wow--would I love to see one of these in person. Lovely image--great detail.
Habitat is great, too. I might see if the bill would lighten just a bit to give more detail there.

The two intersecting perches give this a nice sense of depth. The light on the bird and rendition of its colors is gorgeous. I wish the tail was more along the same angle as his back but I realize he is probably using it to balance with.

Absolutely gorgeous shot. I love the light and the shadows and the nice saturated colors. Very well done.

Beautiful shot, Chris. This bird has become my favorite since I started seeing it on BPN. The juvenile is really beautiful with the mosaic of color on its wings. I love the habitat as well.

So nice KF and sweet light. I like the environment around the bird except the cane? that crosses the image since I find it too large when comparing it to the bird. Other than that a wonderful image.

Beautiful, Chris! Such exquisite detail of the feathers and iridescence. I like your inclusion of the supporting vegetation, indicative of the immediate aquatic habitat. I captured an image of a pair of Malachites in breeding condition at Lake Eyasi in Tanzania last December -- the bills and legs were brilliant orange. Unfortunately, they were in shade at 30m distance, and hard as I tried, I could not bring the IQ up to snuff:o.
