These creatures are simply gorgeous. This one posed for me so close, I could only get this much of him in the frame. I think this crop works quite well. Would love to hear your thoughts.

The crop also works for me. It would be a shame to cut off those beautiful feathers.
    Fantastic detail.

Hi Marina, very nice species with great light and lovely colors, IMO a few steps back would've helped you get better DOF so to be albe to get the whole body sharp.
    Congratulaitons!

Marina, a very beautiful picture and pose. I too feel a bit more DOF would have made this pic great.

This is beautiful Marina. I like images that are NOT counterfeit! LOL!!!!!!!!!

Must agree with previous poster, you had ample shutter speed to (hopefully) obtain a bit more DOF. Absolutely wonderful and crop works for me. :)

    Cheerio......

Hi Marina. Nice job getting so close to your subject. Good sharpness within your DOF, a clean background, and a good job of handling the whites - they look white without being blown. IMO, one of the keys to getting a great image of a wood duck is capturing the iridescence in the cheek patch. This is perhaps the most difficult aspect to capture with this species as the head has to be turned just right to the light for the cheek to light up - when it does, it makes a big difference in the image. Just something to look for the next time you get an opportunity like this. :) :)

I agree with you Marina, these ducks are something else! Excellent exposure and light. The careful composition works well here.
