    Hi Everyone,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Here is a shot of a Short Eared Owl from last season. Not the activity this year at the estuary with the Short Ears like last year. Just managing some distant flight shots and most days they don't show up at all.

    Stats: Canon 50D, 500 F/4 with 1.4X, ISO 250, 1/250 sec at F/8, Manual Mode, No Comp.

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve

Sharpness, light and BG look very good. I would try to get more details in the blacks around the eye and tone down the perch some more.

Very well done for 250 s/s. Agree on Axel's comments and will add that it is a very nice image.

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your kind comments. I had forgotten before I posted this that there had been advise last year on the fence post. I took a series of shots like this one but I must admit that the post is rather overpowering. I will try a bit of work with the dodge and burn tool to see if I can lessen the impact. I used the "Super Smooth" preset on Topaz Denoise for the background and it seems to work quite well. Background is the river bank on the opposite side.

    Thanks,

    Steve
