    Orchard Oriole

    Upper Texas coast

    D2Xs, 600, ISO 250, f6.3, 1/800.

By plucking the very largest leaves of this Mulberry branch I was able to provide it as a perch for a set-up over a drip pond.
Having ripe berries still on the perch provided some great photo opportunities as a few different species made their way down to the water and stopped to feed on the fruit.

Another amazing set-up shot! The ripe berries (including the one in the beak) make it magical. Colors and composition are exquisite; head-turn is perfect. Can I assume that you used a backdrop of some kind for the lovely BG?)

Hey Alan: This is one of my favorite shots that you have arranged. Exposure and color control as just fabulous and the bird is beautiful. Also, I love mulberry trees! We have them everywhere along the rivers in Missouri and they attract a lot of birds and squirrels. Great image.

    A very lovely image Alan,

Excellent color and exposure, with very nice detail and highlights on the blacks.

Congrats on a really beautiful composition,

Hey Bill, the background is the lawn. The DOF on a 600 MM lens is so small that anything in the background that is of any distance away will render smooth and out-of-focus. I used no backdrop. Thanks.

Another excellent image Alan! The fruit in the beak and the great eye contact make this image for me.
