I really love the contemplative pose of this baboon especially the placement of his hands. This was taken as the last rays of sunshine fell upon the rocks were these creatures seek refuge for the night.

    Nikon D3 ,600mm lens @ f4 1/250 iso 1000 . car bracket plus wimberly head.

    Peter,

This is very nice, I love the side lighting, and only wish for the subjects face to be better oriented to the light source. The eyes are the window to the soul.

    Best,

    Chas

    Hi Peter,
I too love this - the light is glorious and the position of the hands makes it for me. Agree with Chas about the eyes.

    Hi Peter

I like seeing this type image rather than the tight shot of the baboon, has a great feel !! Agree on the eyes but like it a lot as presented. Dramatic light makes for dramatic images !!!

Very unique composition, Peter. I wish the light reached as high as his face, but who can control nature?
    Very nice as presented.

Like the subject and idea very much Peter, would wish for more light on the face.
Is this FF, with perhaps room for a tighter crop?

Fabulous light and composition Peter. Love the use of space too. Only thing that could top it, has been mentioned, but love as is.

I like the feeling to the shot but wonder if you could put a tad of focal brightness on the Baboon just to see if there is any loss of the emotional "feel" of the picture. Might work-might not !
Good eye to isolate all the aspects of the image.

Well seen and timed. The warm light of the setting sun really adds to the pose of the baboon to give this one a nice feel.
