Maybe I went further than most...I didn't like anything I tried with background. I searched through my files and found a suitable background...
Background is a photo I took, of half a stone, from the London Museum of Nature...which fit the shape of the mourning dove.
I used the Pattern Stamp Tool to fill in around stone
Added 20 pixel border,filled it using a color from the rock
Added another border using the Pattern Stamp Tool again
Masked Dove, refined edge, copied, then pasted into image
Used plastic wrap filter to give it a 3D effect..

Very different and way to think OOTB Paul. It does have a very 3-D effect. I like the stone BG. Nicely done.

Paul, This is way OOTB. I love the effect on the dove and the stone texture of the BG, but I can't quite figure out the rings around the dove. I think I would like it better without them.
