I was waiting for something else to come closer when about a dozen least sandpipers turned up about 5 feet away. I had to wait patiently for them to get further away before I could focus on them! An unusual problem, for me at least..

A bird closer than MFD is a nice problem to have. :) I like the sharpness, water colors and eye contact. I might give it a bit more room and might lighten the iris a bit.

Great image- gotta love those little water droplets on the plumage and the water's dreamy texture. I agree with Artie- lightening the iris would be a nice improvement. Nice catch!

George, I like the pose and the details look sharp. The water color is lovely. I would lighten the eye a bit also. Well done.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words - Artie, this one was taken at the very end of April this year in the Seattle area.

Thanks George. It fooled me completely. I thought that it was a worn juvie not an adult molting into breeding plumage.
