    Default another La Jolla pelican

    shot from the usual spot. Nikon D70 + 80-400mm VR set at 400mm f9 ISO 800 (dont have a clue why I shot at ISO 800). any c & c will be appreciated.

    Striking colors, extraordinary detail, and noise-free (at any ISO).
    You were apparently quite close @400mm... but still a little unexpected softness at LR (back of neck) which wouldn't seem to be caused by shallow DOF? This is not critical I think...

    i think the eye is misplaced in the frame. i think this would be better as a vertical placing the eye one of the intersecting lines on top of the ROT. the colors and detail are awesome!! just feel like i want to see more down below.

    I am fine with the SQ crop and the COMP. The image is too dark overall and the colors look somewhat funky.

    I tried to lighten the whole thing and that introduced a ton of artifacting in the BKGR. I tried to balance the color and was equally successful I did try though.
