I'm very interested in how you lit this, Barbara...it's beautiful. Was it natural light or artificial or a combination?

Thank you everyone! Julie: I use different methods for my macro studio, including the Nikon wireless macro flash system, but this was simply near large open windows on 2 sides providing natural light, then I think I used a bit of reflector to open up the backside a tad. (I should remember more specific details!) Lighting for 'Graceful Glad' of 11/24 was by the macro flash system.

Barbara: Everything works well here--the angle of the flower, the sharp focus on the front edges, the blur, the various gorgeous colors, the light. Just lovely!! I can't offer any suggestions for improvement.

I thought it might be natural light but if you achieved that with flash I wanted to know how! It's really gorgeous.

Beautiful, Barbara. Love the color palatte. Love the dof... the way the sharp edge just drifts off into the rich, creamy background. Excellent work.

Really well executed - agree with all of the deserved accolades from everyone else. DOF, colors and light combine to make a sweet image.

Barbara: Are the BG colors other flowers? I'm wondering about the lavender and green.
    Thanks!

Hi, Anita: I generally don't do 'grocery store' flowers, but in this case it was a 'bouquet' with those little lavender daisy type flowers in the grouping, and the greenery that came with it! Some seasons around here that is my choice for a source of flowers, and in this case, it provided some good out of focus color.

Thanks so much for the explanation. It worked out beautifully here!! I, also, resist using store bought flowers. In fact, I'm still resisting, hence, the absence of posts from me. :-)

Well, there is beauty in each flower and it's our job to capture it! I guess we shouldn't worry where it comes from. Let's go buy some more and get to work! :-)
