I de-saturated this and added some warmer tones. I added a snow and rain action to try to look like sleet/snow. I added a slight blur vignette

Love the color tones! Really fits the starkness of the surroundings. Great looking moose and I like the snowfall - just right.

I wonder how this would look with all the rocks turned into snow?

Nice image, Denise. I like the color tones and the snow effect. I will have to try the snow effect before the week is over!

Nice image, Denise. Good placement of the moose, and I like the high angle. Nice touch with the snow; it goes well with the bleakness of the scene. The blur vignette looks just right too.

I second Patti's comment on wondering how it would look with some snow cover, just for variety! :)

Thanks folks for the feedback. I had originally chosen this image because of the rocks and I wanted to try Patti's technique for snow covering the rocks.(thanks Patti:)) I tried it but felt that it looked odd, maybe because of the varied ground. You are welcome to give it a try and post it. I would love to see it look like a winter scene. I decided to change gears and add the rain to look like more of a sleeting snow and then de-saturate for an overall bleak look. BUT I would love to see it look like a winter scene. Just don't have alot of time this week.

Well, I tried, but not much success. It does look strange to desaturate and brighten the rocks and turn them into snow. And then there's all that white that needs something else. I tried a clump of grass near some frozen water (from one of my shots). My selection on the moose needed to be feathered more and I really need something else. I tried a shadow on the moose and grass, but I don't know how to do it. Just selecting and using the drop shadow in layer styles didn't look good at all. The shadow needs to be distorted to look as if the light is low in sky. I need to do a bit more research to figure out how.

    My very amateurish attempt...

Patti, Looks very good. Just google adding a shadow w/ photoshop. There a few good tutorials for doing it easily. I like the inclusion of the water and think with some fine tuning this could really shine.Thankyou for the good ideas. You did a great job w/ the water bank it looks very natural!
