Bristlebirds have at least four forward-facing bristles growing from near the base of the bill They are generally rare and local. Because Eastern Bristlebirds live and nest either on or close to the ground they are susceptible to predation by cats and foxes.
I took this picture on a glorious evening last March at the Barren Grounds bird observatory.

I like the singing pose, sharpness, BG and eye contact. I would remove one of the catchlights and give it more room, especially on the right.

Loved the pose, light and Bg, would suggest some selective sharpness of the head..

Nevil, this is an outstanding image you got mate. Love the open mouth and the birds body posture. The details in the feathers and eye are amazing. I agree with adding a sliver of room behind his tail also. Congrats

Very nice Nevil. I like the pose, perch and background. I would add more canvas to the right.

Love the singing pose, agree it's a bit tight on the right.

Very nice singing pose and fantastic details. I would suggest more sharpness of the head and more room to the right. Otherwise very good picture.

Agreed with canvas expansion. I love this shot. Gorgeous bird and not often seen. I am yet to see one myself.

However, since I know this is a reclusive (and endangered) species that prefers to live in scrub and don't often show I would love to know for my benefit (and most certainly BPN members would also be interested) as to how this image was obtained. :)
