Bristlebirds have at least four forward-facing bristles growing from near the base of the bill They are generally rare and local. Because Eastern Bristlebirds live and nest either on or close to the ground they are susceptible to predation by cats and foxes.

Agreed with canvas expansion. I love this shot. Gorgeous bird and not often seen. I am yet to see one myself.
However, since I know this is a reclusive (and endangered) species that prefers to live in scrub and don't often show I would love to know for my benefit (and most certainly BPN members would also be interested) as to how this image was obtained. :)
