I liked how the light was hitting the gull and it caught my eye.

I like the two toned background. That vibrant blue gives a glow to the image.

I like the lighting too. The details and the sharp beak make this great. Very nice BG.

Love the BG and the light here. I wonder whether this bird's beak has been damaged? The bird's head just pops with that light and BG.

Great shot, Denise. I like how the beautiful light falls only on the head.

Incredible detail Denise, and how is that eye. Well done on the exposure, and so, so sharp. It would have been interesting to know how he damaged his beak. If this were mine, I would move the gull back slightly to the left. Well captured.

SUPERB portrait Denise, killer eye, pose and BG. I love gulls and their facial expresions. Yesterday I posted a couple of gulls portraits in my blog and was thinking about posting one here but after seeing yours.... I am not sure :p:D

Thankyou all for your comments. I appreciate the feedback. Stuart I wanted to leave the slight bit of white feathers on the left that's why I chose the square crop-but I did initially think along the same lines.:) Juan, I just checked out your blog, Your gull portraits are superb! Bonnie and Kiran, Thankyou both for your kind words.
